CMoA and CMoH

CMoA (Crowning Moment of Awesome) is a trope (I quote, from Tv Tropes; "devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations.") which involves a character doing an act so awesome that you will always remember, for the rest of your life (like the heroe rescuing the girl and defeating the villain under five minutes)

CMoH (Crowning Moment of Heartwarming) are moments that simply feel right, so good and appropiate that you cannot help but be moved by it and go 'awww' and sometimes even cry. For example, a daughter forgiving her mother and giving her a big hug.

In rare cases, both of these tropes happen at once, which makes the scene even more wonderful. Such case happens in Desperate Housewives Season 4, Episode 17 'Free'.

It's not really central to the story, the scene which I consider both a CMoA and CMoH, but part of a subplot within the episode, so it won't be too much of a spoiler.

In a nutshell, gay couple want to get married, but they are fighting about what ice sculture to use for their wedding. The husband of one of the central 'wives' gives them some advice, which doesn't turn out well. So Lynette (main 'wifey') and husband Tom get them together to chat with them, which Tom takes the chance to give quite a speech. The conversation goes as follow:

Lynette: 'Earlier, my husband, in an attempt to help you with your relationship, mistakenly gave you some advice. Which he would like no to take back. Tom?'

Tom: 'Actually, I stand by everything I said. My only mistake was in not going far enough.'

Lynette: 'What?'

Tom: 'If you're willing to break up over an ice sculture, you guys should absolutely not get married.'

Lynette: 'Where the hell are you going with this?'

Tom: 'Because, who gets to choose the ice sculpture, take out the trash, who has to saty home and make the mini pizzas, that's the little stuff.
What are you gonna do when the big stuff comes along? What are you gonna do when a tornado hits your house? Or one of you gets cancer?
At some point, the crap is going to hit the fan. And that is why now, before you make any commitment, you have to ask yourself, is that person in bed next to you worth the trouble?
Do you love him or her so much that no disease, no disaster could possibly pull you apart?'

Lynette: '...Answer him!'

And this is coming from a guy who believed his wife cheated on him with a crazy chef, who had to send his 11-year-old daughter away since she was destroying their family, who was very busy with his pizza shop but instead "stayed home and made the mini pizzas", who barely survived a tornado and who stayed by his wife's side after she got diagnosed with cancer. And he did it without putting any fancy words and phrases on how his love for her wife is the size of the moon. You don't get any more awesome than this, unless, of course he was riding a dragon while saying his part (and I believe this is when a 'certain SM~' would stab me, lol).

It truly moved me, and I'm teling this to any of my friends who's about to get married, whenever that may be.

P.S: My life has been boring, hence the lack of activity of this place. Should be more active once uni starts, I HOPE.
